Excellent hotel in the centre of Ulaanbaatar, rated 3star but definitely top of 3star!. Modern, clean, attentive staff, good basic breakfast and good value for money

Hi, happy to tell about my feeling about the Narantuul Hotel, that I stayed in January, 2010.
I was in Holiday during 7 days in Mongolia. Stayed in 4 nights here and then go to Terel Natioanl Park.
I made so many surfing to make my hotel reservation. And finally find the site possible to make direct online reservation which was www.mongolianhotels.net - can see room photo, services, and prices and room availability.
Room is so quite. Location is so cozy can walk to shopping in State Department Store, or other small shop, and souvenir shop.

Narantuul is a good hotel for Ulaanbaatar. We stayed there when we arrived and after returning to UB from a ger camp. Rooms were clean and comfortable. Breakfast buffet was decent. We paid $108 per night (including breakfast). We were in room 101 and had a great view of the north side of UB and the Gandan Monastary. Opening the balcony door and windows provided an excellent breeze through the room - no AC needed. The hotel location is about a 20 minute walk to Sukhbaatar Square and 10-15 minutes to some of the better restaurants/cafes on Peace Ave. The pictures of topless woman as you enter the restaurant for breakfast on the third floor are quite something - especially since they are 3-D.

We were very impressed by this hotel. The star rating is low for the service and the quality of the rooms. We checked out others and we really wondered what the stars really meant. This is a clean tourist class hotel, with very friendly staff, the rooms are spacious, clean, bright. Good location for sightseeing. The owner is European (German I think) and the standard of the plumbing as well as the furnishings is definitely higher than in any other other we saw. In general, the only modern thing in Mongolia are the cars, so this hotel was the most modern and clean structure that we saw in our trip.
